Steel fabrication is the cutting, shaping and assembling of raw materials into machinery and equipment composed of steel. Some steel fabrication projects are focused on creating parts that are intended to be incorporated into a more complex structure. Once the welding process is complete, the steel product is generally sand-blasted for a smooth finish, then primed and painted. Following a final inspection, a steel fabrication facility?s shipping department then prepares the piece for mailing.

Fabricated steel pieces which are intended to incorporate hydraulics or electrical elements may be available only from higher-level specialized steel manufacturers.
